What crowns and bridges do
A crown covers and protects a tooth that's been weakened by a large filling, a crack, or a root canal, restoring its strength and shape. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a replacement to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap.
How It Works
From impression to fit
Dr. McCartney prepares the tooth (or teeth), takes an impression or digital scan, and sends the case out to be custom-made. You'll wear a temporary in the meantime, and come back to have the permanent crown or bridge fitted and cemented in place.
When one is needed
Crowns and bridges come up most often after a tooth is too damaged for a filling to hold, after a root canal, or when a missing tooth is starting to affect your bite or the teeth around the gap. Costs are confirmed before any lab work begins, so there's no surprise when the case comes back.
Had a dental emergency with a cracked molar, and Dr McCartney came from a friend with glowing references. He was taking new patients so I called and was able to get in quite quickly to at least see what was going on because at that point I didn't know it was a shattered molar a couple days later he fixed the tooth with a temporary crown
Because he was so gentle and knowledgeable and his staff so courteous and professional, I decided to get my cleanings from the practice.
So far, very happy with the results. They are on time, explain everything fully and very proficient.
