Your First Appointment
A comprehensive exam, done properly.
Your first appointment with Dr. McCartney is a full new-patient exam. Full-series X-rays, complete periodontal charting, an oral cancer screening, intraoral photos, and a caries check. It takes longer than a routine cleaning because it's supposed to. Most patients tell us it's the most thorough exam they've ever had. That says more about other offices than it does about us.

We Go Beyond the Basics to Understand Your Coverage
Before your first appointment, we take the time to contact your insurance company and carefully review your dental benefits. We'll help you understand what is covered, what may not be covered, your annual maximum, and how much of that maximum you have already used.
If you don't have dental insurance, we also offer discounts for patients who pay out of pocket. Just ask our team about available savings when you call, we're happy to provide the details.
We make every effort to give you the clearest picture possible of your expected out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins, so submitting a pre-determination to your insurance company whenever applicable is recommended. We believe in doing the extra work up front so you can move forward with greater confidence and fewer surprises.
What to Bring
Come with a few things and we'll handle the rest.
Bring your insurance card, a photo ID, and a list of any medications you take. If you have recent X-rays from another dentist, bring those too. If you're switching from a long-time practice up north, we're happy to reach out to them for records so nothing gets duplicated.

"Had a dental emergency with a cracked molar, and Dr McCartney came from a friend with glowing references. He was taking new patients so I called and was able to get in quite quickly to at least see what was going on because at that point I didn't know it was a shattered molar a couple days later he fixed the tooth with a temporary crown
